The Mold Swab Test

The swab test is used to determine whether or not a visible stain, discoloration, or suspected surface, etc. is indicative of mold growth at the sample location. The swab test allows for the determination of the presence of fungal spores as well identifying what type(s) of fungi are present.

*Swab testing is NOT to be used for gauging or accessing a home’s health risk. We highly recommend using the ERMI Test as a primary means of home health assessment, but if you would like to test a surface or area, the swab test can help you identify the species. Swab testing, along with other methods may also be used as a tool to test if mold in your home has been fully removed.
